The Ellis County Press: $15,436,170 in pot confiscated $15,436,170 in pot confiscated ================================================================================ Editor on 09/10/2009 09:52:00 MEGAN GRAY The Ellis County Press ENNIS - Ellis County Sher-iff's Department continued its crackdown across the county busting 9,690 marijuana plants from a wooded area near Ennis Thursday, Sept. 3. Along with the help of the Texas Department of Public Safety Narcotics Service, the county conducted a Domestic Marijuana Eradication operation stumbling across the pot farm southeast of Ennis. That same day, DPS officers and the Navarro County She-riff's Office uncovered plots in Navarro County about a half mile from Interstate Highway 45 in Rice. More than 8,000 plants in Rice were concealed from view and irrigated by miles of pipes running from stock tanks on the property according to the DPS. Investigators said the grows were sophisticated and well established. According to the current guidelines by the Texas Department of Safety, the estimated street value for the plants unearthed in Ellis County, if harvested, would be worth $15,436,170.
