According to their mission statement, the group stands for "American government at all levels is of the people, by the people and for the people.' We believe in the following principals : God, love of country, limited government, fiscal responsibility, sanctity of life, as well as strict adherence to the Constitution and Bill of Rights. On hand to discuss local republican precincts and delegates was Pct. 3 Commissioner Ron Brown. "I have been doing this for 19 years, I would appreciate if you would get involved," said Brown urging locals to get with their precincts and try to become active in their Republican Party. Other guest speakers were Dub Maines, deputy district director for congressman Joe Barton, R - Ennis and Lee Butts with Mike Huckabee's Political Action Committee to find, endorse and elect conservatives from the local to federal levels. " We started this group mainly to keep the activism growing and press the issues that matter most to locals no matter their political affiliation," said Gary Bennett, whom was hosting the event with his wife Sondra. While discussion going around was mostly conservative, any like-minded freedom fighter would show some interest. With talks from Kay Bailey Hutchinson's camp, there could be a visit from the soon Texas governor candidate to be. "We [the women] are wanting to start a "Texas Tea" forum that would span across the state eventually for mothers and daughters across the board," said Sondra Bennett. Meetings are to take place the third Saturday of each month at various locations. For more information email wethepeopleoftexas@gmail.com ECP-TV.com exclusive: Footage of all three guest speeches.
