ITALY - A 4-1 vote Monday evening with the city council passed an ordinance
providing Mayor Frank Jackson a salary.
John Droll was the lone opposing vote.
Italy, the highest-taxed city in Ellis County, now has the highest paid mayor in
the county.
Effective May 9, the city will provide Jackson $600 every two weeks.
Teri Murdock, city secretary/administrator was approved an annual salary of
$48,000.
In other agenda items, the May 9 city election was canceled.
The mayor and all three council members were unopposed.
