The Ellis County Press: TxDOT to Switch Traffic on I-35E Just South of Waxahachie TxDOT to Switch Traffic on I-35E Just South of Waxahachie ================================================================================ Editor on 03/31/2009 12:18:00 ELLIS COUNTY - The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is preparing to switch southbound traffic onto an eight mile portion of the newly constructed I-35E from two miles south of Waxahachie to Chambers Creek located just north of Italy. The traffic switch will begin Friday, April 3, at 9 a.m. and is expected to be complete by the afternoon. The temporary access ramps to and from FM 329 and the TxDOT rest area located four miles south of Waxahachie will be completed by Saturday afternoon. The traffic switch will allow reconstruction of the permanent southbound I-35E mainlanes and is part of a traffic control plan designed to keep traffic moving while the $62.4 million I-35E reconstruction project moves forward. TxDOT asks motorists to drive carefully through the work zone, and has placed electronic message boards along southbound I-35E to notify the public of the scheduled traffic switch. The project is scheduled for completion this spring. TxDOT and W.W. Webber would like to thank area drivers, local businesses, the City of Waxahachie and Ellis County for their continued patience and cooperation as crews work diligently to complete this vital project as soon and as safely as possible.
