The Ellis County Press: School Recieve $7 million School Recieve $7 million ================================================================================ Editor on 02/24/2009 17:58:00 * * * NICOLE MONK _The Ellis County Press_ AUSTIN - The federal economic bill sends $4 billion for education and public schools in Texas and of that an estimated $7,281,000 will go to Ellis County schools. "The stimulus bill wheels are turning in D.C. and in Texas. Officials throughout the state are just waiting for guidelines about how it can be spent," said Mary Scott Nabers, president and CEO of Strategic Partnerships, Inc. School districts that receive money directed toward special programs are expected to use a sizable amount for equipment, technology, energy enhancement and construction. These funds will result in more work opportunities for citizens and contracting opportunities for vendors and service providers. "Those interested in selling to the government - whether to school districts, cities, counties or state agencies- should get involved immediately," said Nabers. A federal website, www.recovery.gov, will allow people to see how the money is spent after it is released.
