The Ellis County Press: Indiana man tapped for city manager spot Indiana man tapped for city manager spot ================================================================================ Editor on 01/02/2009 09:22:00 _The Ellis County Press_ RED OAK - Red Oak City Council was set to hire the town manager in Yorktown, Indiana their new city manager Tuesday, Dec. 30. Tim Kelty, one of 74 applicants who applied for the position, recently won the Local Government Manager of the Year award from the state of Indiana two weeks ago. Kelty is expected to sign the contract by the end of the week, according to Red Oak city officials. "I'm really pleased [by the choice]," said Red Oak Mayor Alan Hugley. "He has shown tremendous work in the same place for the past eight years. Coming from a town about the same size and growth as Red Oak, he has expertise in various areas we need to expand here." Kelty, whose town is 45 minutes from Indianapolis, will take over the spot from interim city manager Eric Thompson, who told Red Oak councilmen he wanted to remain the city's fire chief.
