The Ellis County Press: I-45 Frontage Road becomes one-way in Navarro County I-45 Frontage Road becomes one-way in Navarro County ================================================================================ Editor on 08/14/2008 16:52:00 The Texas Department of Transportation began convert ing the newly resurfaced southbound I-45 two-way frontage road into a one-way configuration, from the Ellis County line to the overpass just north of Chambers Creek, on Tuesday, Aug. 12. Work involves re-striping the pavement and placing additional signs alerting and directing motorists to the new, one-way condition. "The new ramps and added lanes to I-45 make it necessary to convert this southbound frontage road to one-way," said Darwin Myers, P.E., TxDOT's Navarro County area engineer. "It is an important part of the project since it will improve the safety along the frontage roads, at the ramp junctures and access points." The frontage road reconfiguration is part of a larger, $41 million I-45 reconstruction and widening project. Once complete, I-45 will be six-lanes wide, three lanes each direction, and will include wide shoulders and bridges. The project contractor is W.W. Webber, Inc., of Houston.
