Though only 21 votes had been cast during early voting - which ends Tuesday - for the May 10 election, the Secretary of State's office informed city officials Thursday morning they would need ballots with the correct order of candidates. A ballot position drawing was conducted after the filing deadline on March 10, with Ricky Long drawing the first position on the Place 1 ballot. Long, instead, is listed second to incumbent Dusty Fryer. In the Place 2 race, three candidates drew for positions on the ballot - Bill Houston drew the first position, followed by Freda Wash and Bob Johnson. The ballot listed Houston's name second, and Wash's name first. The city council candidates will meet Friday night for a candidate forum at Midlothian's Navarro College campus, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Elections department officials with the county SOS officials informed them the emergency ballots were being used in the city.
