The Ellis County Press: Record-breaking ECP sales follow threats Record-breaking ECP sales follow threats ================================================================================ Editor on 04/15/2008 19:51:00 JOEY DAUBEN The Ellis County Press PALMER - _The Ellis County Press_ broke newspaper sales last week amid a flurry of threats made by supporters of Palmer Councilman Mike Greenlee in regards to an article about past misspending. Supporters of Greenlee were witnessed by ECP reporters and residents taking newspapers and delivering them to Greenlee's house; Greenlee, who could not be reached for comment on this story, was out of the country last week. "This is a good problem to have, but unfortunately, supporters of Greenlee - including current council members - didn't want the truth to be made to the rest of the public," said ECP publisher Charles Hatfield. "The threats we received were also uncalled for and we'll be pursuing legal action on that." Charles Clark threatened to "slit" this reporter's throat after a call was made to the Palmer resident regarding alleged stolen newspapers. A complaint has since been filed with local law enforcement agencies.
