The Ellis County Press: Warrant ensnares Ennis commissioner Warrant ensnares Ennis commissioner ================================================================================ Editor on 03/27/2008 01:03:00 The Ellis County Press ENNIS - A felony fraud warrant was reportedly issued last week out of Clay County in north Texas for Ennis Commissioner Byron Walker, who turned himself in last week to Ennis authorities. Walker, who faces Red Sanders for re-election to his Ward 1 seat on May 10, told the _Ennis Daily News _last week he was cooperating fully with authorities. Private investigators tipped _The Ellis County Press_ when the news of the warrant was issued and said it was related to an identity theft accusation. Ennis has not been without controversy involving its city council (called commissioners). Ward 5 Commissioner Stephen Durbin, who did not file for re-election this year, admitted to videotaping his employees undressing in his Ennis dental practice last summer. Durbin has since hired defense attorney Mark Griffith to handle the case. Durbin's wife, Connie, currently serves on the Ennis school board.
