The Ellis County Press: Ennis Showcases State Flower Ennis Showcases State Flower ================================================================================ Editor on 03/19/2008 23:18:00 Hosts Annual Festival April 18-20 Ennis - The city is showcasing its beautiful bluebonnets throughout April, with a weekend festival full of family fun and events April 18-20, 2008. Named the Official Bluebonnet Trail of Texas by the 1997 State Legislature, Ennis has staked its claim as the "Official Bluebonnet City". The bluebonnets (Lupinus Texensis) begin blooming the last week in March in Ennis and typically reach their peak around the third week of April in the Ennis area. To highlight this breathtaking event, the Ennis Garden Club has planned "The Ennis Bluebonnet Trails Festival," on April 18-20, which includes art and craft exhibitions showcasing original art work and crafts, children's play area, food and drinks, live entertainment, wildflower seeds, bluebonnet souvenirs, and the railroad and cultural heritage museum. Admission is free to all exhibits at Pierce Park, which is located at W. Ennis Avenue, Northwest Main Street and Southwest Main Street in downtown Ennis. The festival's new hours for 2008 are 11 am- 8 pm on Friday, April 18 and from 9 a.m.- 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, April 19 and 20th.
