The Ellis County Press: Wilmer boy rescued from well Wilmer boy rescued from well ================================================================================ Editor on 03/06/2008 00:00:00 Cathy KENNEDY _The Ellis County Press_ WILMER - A three-year-old boy was rescued from an open well by Wilmer police officers Thursday night. Police. received a call stating a boy fell into a well in the family's backyard. Officers Ben Moore and Tony Shaw arrived to find the boy holding onto a drainage pipe about 15 feet below them. Moore removed his weapon and shirt handing them to Shaw, climbed down the side of the well when he lost his footing and fell into the well himself. The more than six-foot-tall officer did not touch bottom, but went over his head deep inwater. Moore, with the boy safely in tow, climbed out of the well with the help of Shaw. At last report, the boy is healthy and safe with his parents and the well has been secured . Moore sustained minor scrapes on his arms and back during his fall. Shaw saw Moore fall into the murky water said he was 'a little worse for wear, but was in good condition.'
