The Ellis County Press: Lynched: Palmer PD chief resigns Lynched: Palmer PD chief resigns ================================================================================ Editor on 02/28/2008 00:00:00 GLEN JACKSON _The Ellis County Press_ PALMER - Scott Lynch resigned as Palmer's police chief Monday, apparently due to a city council meeting last week which resulted in a disciplinary action for his treatment of fellow officers. It was the third time in two months the City of Palmer has had Lynch on the council agenda. Lynch, who was fired from Dallas Area Rapid Transit several years ago for an incident involving verbal abuse allegations (he was later cleared of any wrongdoing), admitted in an open session council meeting last week he raised his voice to a department employee. A list of complaints against him was also entered into public record last week; items such as refusing to acknowledge the mayor in public or waving to certain city officials on a passing road were just two examples of what citizens characterized as 'ridiculous' last week. Councilman Jeff Vick said he looked at some of the complaints and told Lynch he was 'disgusted' and at times appeared to tear up when asking questions about how Lynch spoke to officers. The council unanimously voted to uphold a reprimand against him. Lynch could not be reached for comment as of press time.
