The Ellis County Press: Midlothian candidate forum set for Feb. 9 Midlothian candidate forum set for Feb. 9 ================================================================================ Editor on 02/07/2008 00:00:00 GLEN JACKSON _The Ellis County Press_ MIDLOTHIAN - Republican candidates are set to convene at the old civic center on Saturday for The Ellis County Press-sponsored candidate forum. Confirmed candidates include Precinct 4 constable's Mike Jones and Kyle Neal and Precinct 3 commissioner candidates Heath Sims and Brian Thompson. Though invited, the three candidates for sheriff - two of which are from Midlothian - declined an invitation. County attorney Joe Grubbs also declined, but his opponent, Rodney Pat Ramsey, will be on hand. 'The candidates who are ‘making other plans' for their 30-minute slot at this forum are going to look like they don't care,' said ECP Publisher Charlie Hatfield. 'We're building this paper in the western side of the county, and to have two of the most prominent Midlothian candidates skip this event is unfortunate.' Hatfield said photos of nameplates in front of empty podiums would be published in next week's paper. Moderator for the candidate forum will be Midlothian City Councilman Ken Chambers. The Taxpayers Alliance for Good Government is also co-hosting the event, which starts at 7 p.m.
