The Ellis County Press: Margaret Hill re-elected vice chair Margaret Hill re-elected vice chair ================================================================================ Editor on 09/13/2007 00:00:00 _Special to The Ellis County Press_ Midlothian resident, Margaret Hill, director and secretary-treasurer of HILCO Electric Cooperative, has been re-elected vice chair of the board of directors of Rural Friends/ACRE, a nonpartisan political action committee. Rural Friends/ACRE represents the interests of Texas' 74 consumer-owned electric distribution and generation and transmission cooperatives. Texas Rural Friends/ACRE membership grew by about 800, or 33 percent, in the 2006-07 fiscal year. The membership now exceeds 3,200, ranking Texas third in Rural Friends/ACRE members nationwide. 'Our membership continues to grow,' Hill said. 'We are proud our work at the state and national levels benefits electric cooperatives and their members.' Texas Rural Friends/ACRE helps supporters of electric cooperatives who are seeking election to the Texas Legislature and to the U.S. Congress - those who will speak for and protect the interests of electric co-op consumers. It operates under the guidelines and policies of a board of directors made up of electric co-op leaders from around the state. The committee is subject to all state and federal campaign finance laws and reporting requirements. Membership in Rural Friends/ACRE is composed principally of co-op directors, managers, employees, member-owners and spouses who support electric cooperatives and the communities they serve. Catherine Poppe, marketing and training coordinator for Fayette Electric Cooperative based in La Grange, was re-elected board chair. Larry Ogden, member services advisor for Lighthouse Electric Cooperative, was re-elected secretary-treasurer. HILCO Electric Cooperative is headquartered in Itasca. The cooperative has more than 22,100 meters in parts of Dallas, Ellis, Johnson Hill and McLennan counties.
