_Construction begins on new station_
GARRETT - On Friday, April 6 Garrett Area Rural Volunteer Fire Department will
hold it's annual fish fry from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall
at 850 South I 45 in Ennis.
There will be a silent auction and a raffle for a bar-b-que pit, porch swing,
picnic table and tickets to the Desperados.
Raffle tickets are $2 each or three for $5; meal tickets are $7 for adults and
$5 for children under 12.
This year, the department was scheduled to receive a bonus on March 29: a new
Pierce Engine from Martin Apparatus which it received on a cost-share grant from
FEMA.
On Monday, April 2, fire department members were also scheduled to begin
construction on their new building at 6116 FM 879, just east of I-45.
Monies raised at the fish fry fundraiser will help support the department and
