Recently, Ferris ordered one defibrillator for each campus, one for the bus barn and one for the administration building. For the high school, two would be purchased so there was one in the field house and one in the main building. 'We feel like it is important to have one at each of our facilities,' said Superintendent Mike Bodine. A trainer from the company that these defib-rillators are being purchased would come to Ferris to show the proper ways to use the new equipment. 'We want as many people on campus to know how to operate one,' said Bodine. 'The common protocol is you have an automatic defibrillator within three to four minutes on each campus.' An average defibrillator ranges from $1,000 to $1,400 and the ones purchased by Ferris were $1,200 each. They have a loud voice and large digital readout. 'We feel like it is imperative we keep our students safe,' said Bodine.
