The Ellis County Press: New officer hired in Ovilla New officer hired in Ovilla ================================================================================ Editor on 11/20/2003 00:00:00 GEORGIA FITZHUGH The Ellis County Press OVILLA - Police Chief Mike Moon hired Mario Ortegon to be a new full-time police officer, according to his announcement at the Ovilla City Council on Nov. 10. Ortegon has two years of experience as a reserve officer in Princeton and in Hood County, and nine years of work experience in animal control for Hood County. Ortegon takes the full-time position following the resignation of Officer Sherry Arriola, who returned to work in the Navarro County jail. Moon has known Ortegon since he was a teenager in the Police Explorer group sponsored by the Cedar Hill Police Department. 'I was the first police officer Mario rode with when he was a Police Explorer, and now I'm the first to offer him a full-time position as a police officer,' Moon said.
