The Ellis County Press: NIGHT COURT NIGHT COURT ================================================================================ Editor on 09/25/2003 00:00:00 _County approves evening meetings_ JOEY DAUBEN The Ellis County Press WAXAHACHIE - County commissioners will now hold meetings at night. After hearing citizen input on the campaign trail last year, County Judge Chad Adams moved forward with the idea, approved unanimously by all four commissioners. Meetings, scheduled for the second and fourth Mondays each month, will consist of one night meeting and one day meeting per month. Currently, all meetings are held at the county courthouse at 10 a.m. However, concern about having to pay employees overtime to attend the meetings was brought up. County Commissioner Larry Jones said he would be the first to vote for the regular daytime meetings if citizens didn't show interest in coming to the meetings at night. Department heads typically attend meetings during the 10 a.m. slot, but more money, according to county officials, would have to be spent to pay for the extra time they're there. The meeting times at night will be released sometime next week.
