The Ellis County Press: Ennis begins spraying for adult mosquitoes Ennis begins spraying for adult mosquitoes ================================================================================ Editor on 08/21/2003 00:00:00 SHERRY LONG The Ellis County Press ENNIS - Dallas County Health Department began spraying Wednesday, Aug. 20 across the city to kill adult mosquitos, after a recommendation from the Texas Department of Health Entomologist Roy Burton. City officials said spraying will begin at dusk and is usually completed within three to four hours. 'Because the pesticide will be sprayed at ultra-low levels, citizens should not experience adverse health effects,' Ennis City Manager Steve Howerton said. He said people with pre-existing medical conditions, including asthma, allergies and emphysema or sensitive individuals may experience congestion or runny nose, sore throat, temporary skin and eye irritations and moderate respiratory irritations. Larvacide will still be used by the city to kill immature mosquitos. The city plans to spray on Monday evening also, if weather conditions remain appropriate. Residents can receive more information about the spraying from the City of Ennis Health Department at 972-878-1234.
