The Ellis County Press: Increase on Hutchins gas will be less than 1 cent on dollar for service Increase on Hutchins gas will be less than 1 cent on dollar for service ================================================================================ Editor on 12/26/2002 00:00:00 JIM WILLIAMS Staff Writer HUTCHINS - Residents here will pay less than one cent - a .667 percent increase - on the dollar for service provided by TXU Gas. City council unanimously approved the ordinance during regular session Monday evening, Dec. 9 at city hall. Gardner, Vasquez and Mayor Pro-Tem Raymond Elmore voted in favor of the motion. Councilmen Alex Love and Robert Gross were not present. Before the vote, Joe Ed Wallace, city financial officer, said the ordinance had come from 51 cities who turned down a gas rate increase by TXU last summer. 'Attorneys have met and come up with a mutual agreement,' Wallace said. 'I recommend you approve this agreement. 'This is about as good as its going to get.' He said if one city did not approve this ordinance, attorneys would have to go back to the drawing board to reconsider a gas rate increase for TXU.
