PALMER - Captain Dino Martin of the Ellis County Sheriff's Department said
Tuesday the dead body found Thanksgiving Day off the Interstate 45 northbound
service road was a female in her late teens or early 20s.
Martin said the determination wasn't 100 percent positive, but there was a high
percentage the body was a young female, according to the Dallas County Medical
Examiners Office.
Reportedly, a skirt had been found near the body.
One source said the body had lengthy acrylic fingernails.
Martin said more information from the ME's office would probably take
approximately two more weeks.
'The body was badly decomposed,' he said. 'Parts are still missing. We're still
looking for the skull. Everything's on hold.'
Martin said the sheriff's department was following up leads and working with
police departments concerning missing persons from cities in Ellis County.
Green Funeral Home in Ferris transported the body to the ME's office in Dallas.
Three persons discovered the body Thursday, Nov. 22 in a creek next to a bridge.
Ferris Police Department received the initial report.
In a report issued by Justice-of-the-Peace Chad Adams, the body was wrapped
around logs against the bridge.
An arm was found five feet from the body.
Adams' report stated there was not any sign of binding of the arms or legs.
The back of the torso was submersed in water and appeared to have black plastic
on the back of it.
