The Ellis County Press: 3 Navarro County escapees caught near Waxahachie 3 Navarro County escapees caught near Waxahachie ================================================================================ Editor on 08/03/2000 00:00:00 JOHN CAPPS Ellis County Press WAXAHACHIE -- Ellis County Sheriff´s deputies joined with Texas Rangers and Navarro County Sheriff´s deputies July 24 to apprehend three fugitives after they escaped from the Navarro County Jail. According to Chief Deputy Charles Sullins of the Ellis County Sheriff´s Office, the fugitives escaped the Navarro County facility by cutting an opening in a fence surrounding a recreational area, then made their way to Ellis County. Peace officers found a vehicle belonging to one of the suspects parked behind a residence on Black Champ Road, but the suspects left the residence before deputies arrived. Officers searched the premises and found three firearms believed to be in the unlawful possession of James Clark, 24, one of the escaped felons. The officers found Clark, formerly a resident of Glenn Heights, hiding in a nearby building and apprehended him. A second fugitive, Shawn Montgomery, 24, was discovered nearby partially concealed in vegetation and tall grass. 25-year-old Y.C. Spears, the third escapee, was located hiding under a boat in a nearby barn.
