Lancaster declares disaster

LANCASTER - At approximately 1:15 p.m. the City of Lancaster activated its
outdoor warning system due to an approaching tornado. The city immediately
activated its Emergency Operations Command Center and subsequently, the
Lancaster City Council declared a local disaster.
Early assessment reports approximately 300 structures have been damaged;
approximately 150 of these structures were severely damaged. At this time no
fatalities have been reported.
Streets are clear; however, a city-wide curfew will be in effect from 7p.m. to 7
a.m. A blockade has been established north at Telephone Road to south at Bayport
Drive, east to Pebble Beach Drive and west to Sunny Meadow Drive. No one will be
allowed within the blockade area.
A shelter has been established at the Lancaster Recreation Center located at
1700 Veterans Memorial Parkway.
