The Ellis County Press: Publisher arrested; Faces charges relating to child indecency allegations Publisher arrested; Faces charges relating to child indecency allegations ================================================================================ Megan Gray on 12/22/2011 16:58:00 NAVARRO COUNTY - Joseph “Joey” Glen Dauben, 30, was arrested by Texas Ranger Jason Bobo Monday, Dec. 19 at his Henderson County home in Mabank on charges relating to indecency with a child. Dauben, publisher of the blog, Ellis County Observer and a former contract employee of The Ellis County Press, was brought up on three charges of sexual assault to a child and one charge of indecency with a child/sexual contact. Previously arrested in New Hampshire in 2009, Dauben spent a week and a half in Grafton County Jail for allegedly obtaining a mug shot of someone and posting it on his blog illegally. Since then, he has had a warrant issued for his arrest in Ferris for not paying a traffic ticket, reports of theft filed against him and his personal computers and all electronic devices were seized earlier this year stemming from a warrant issued by the Ellis County District Attorney’s Office for posting a little girls social security number and medical records on his blog. “I felt his journalism skills didn’t fit and maintain the integrity of our newspaper,” said ECP Publisher Charles D. Hatfield, Jr. on why Dauben hasn’t been contracted with the paper since January 2010. Information currently released by Navarro County Sheriff’s Office doesn’t indicate if the child/children are male or female and when the alleged incident(s) took place. Dauben’s bond has been set at $200,000. All four charges second degree felonies.
