The Ellis County Press: Airport to receive $310,000 Airport to receive $310,000 ================================================================================ STAFF REPORT on 11/24/2011 15:33:00 LANCASTER - During the Texas Department of Transportation’s monthly meeting, Lancaster Regional Airport was awarded $310,000 for planned airport improvements. The money will go towards engineering and design for airport pavements. Funding awarded is provided through TxDOT’s Aviation Facilities Grant Program which preserves and improves the state’s general aviation system and the city of Lancaster. According to a news release from TxDOT, a total of 275 community airports were eligible for funding. Arrivals and departures from community airports account for more than three million flight hours per year and provide aircraft facilities for agricultural, medical, business and commuter use. Construction for the new improvements are to begin within 60 days.Lancaster Regional is located on the 700 block of Ferris Road.
