The Ellis County Press: Bus crash leaves 1 dead, 15 injured Bus crash leaves 1 dead, 15 injured ================================================================================ Megan Gray on 11/10/2011 13:08:00 RUNNELS COUNTY – A 20-year-old Midlothian student was released from Ballinger Memorial Hospital Saturday, Nov. 5 after being involved in a bus crash on Friday, Nov. 4. Kendra Unamba, a sophomore at Abilene Christian University, was en route to Medina for a weekend of mission work with 11 other students, three faculty members and a faculty member’s wife when the driver lost control of the university owned passenger bus heading southbound on Highway 83 as the group approached a slight curve shortly after 3 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 234 in Runnels County. According to reports, the bus struck a concrete culvert and overturned, ejecting several passengers before it came to rest upright on the shoulder of the highway, ultimately killing 19-year-old Anabel Reid of Petersburg. Passengers were sent to area hospitals. Dr. Jim Cooke, of Abilene, and Kathleen Henderson, a junior from Rock Port, were released the same day as Unamba. Unamba, while a resident of Midlothian didn’t attend Midlothian High School according to Public Relations Director for Midlothian Independent School District Jana Hawthorne.
