Police seek help for hit and run

ITALY – Italy Police Department is currently seeking help to identify a driver
allegedly involved in a hit and run on Interstate 35E on Monday, Oct. 17.
The accident occurred about 9 p.m. on the north bound side of the interstate,
near State Highway 34.  Italy officers found the body of a victim, Mark Ross
Ziegler, 47, laying in an outside line of traffic near the shoulder of the road.
According to police, a white Chevrolet Astro van was found abandoned near the
scene.
Ziegler, from Euless, was transported to Dallas County Medical Examiner’s
Office  and pronounced  dead at the scene by Pct. 3 Justice of the Peace Curtis
Polk at 9:30 p.m.
Ellis County Sheriff Office, Milford Police Department and Texas Department of
Public Safety assisted the scene of the crime near a truck stop.
