As of 2:15 p.m., all outdoor WISD athletic practices and activities, including scheduled football games, have been cancelled for Monday, October 3, 2011. Lighthouse for Learning classes have also been cancelled for Monday, October 3, 2011. WAXAHACHIE - Magna Blend, a chemical factory in Waxahachie east of Highway 287, has erupted in flames and continues to burn. The Ellis County Campus of Navarro College has been evacuated as well as Waxahachie Independent School District issuing the following release: "As a precautionary measure, Wedgeworth students will now be evacuated to Solis Gymnasium at Ninth Grade Academy due to the structural fire located at Magnablend which is a business located near Highway 287 bypass. Buses are now in route to pick up students. Parents may pick up children at Solis Gymnasium foyer if they wish to do so, but must follow proper check out procedures. The Ninth Grade Academy is located on 275 Indian Drive." Highway 287 has been closed and the city is asking all to stay clear of the area. No major injuries have been reported at this time. Update from WISD: "As of 12:25 p.m. all students at Wedgeworth Elementary have been safely evacuated. The last bus is now in route to the Ninth Grade Academy gymnasium. Upon arrival, students will be fed lunch. Parents may pick up children at Solis Gymnasium foyer if they wish to do so, but must follow proper check out procedures. The Ninth Grade Academy is located on 275 Indian Drive."
