Cyclist killed after running from police

HUTCHINS - On Thursday, Sept. 8 at 2:30 a.m., a Hutchins Police Officer
attempted to stop a motorcyclist for a traffic violation on Highway I-20
westbound.
When the officer activated his emergency equipment the motorcyclist accelerated
and continued westbound at a high rate of speed according to a news release
issued by Hutchins Police Department.
The motorcyclist struck the rear of a tractor trailer and was killed.
The accident investigation, by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department, is
currently on-going and the accident report wasn’t available as of press time.
The HPD is conducting an internal investigation into the incident according to a
statement released by Police Chief Frank McElligott.
