The Ellis County Press: Ellis County: Construction To Begin On FM 983 Bridge Replacement Ellis County: Construction To Begin On FM 983 Bridge Replacement ================================================================================ Michelle Releford [Michelle.Releford@txdot.gov] on 08/15/2011 10:30:00 Brushy Creek bridge due for replacement and improvements ELLIS COUNTY– The Texas Department of Transportation is breaking ground this month on a project to replace the FM 983 bridge over Brushy Creek just north of the community of Rockett in northernEllisCounty. The two-lane bridge is being replaced under the federal bridge replacement program. The new bridge will still have two lanes, but the lanes will be widened from 11 feet to 12 feet and safety shoulders will be added. Work will include demolition, grading, structures, paving and applying pavement markings, signs, guardrail replacement and reflectors. The bridge will be built in two phases. The existing bridge will be reduced to one lane, and traffic will be controlled through the project with a traffic signal. The contractor, Rebcon, Inc. of Dallas, was awarded the project with a bid of $963,907.10. The project is expected to be complete by November of 2012.
