Dallas County Sheriff Deputies arresting a man off Interstate Highway 45 in
Wilmer going northbound at a speed of more than 100 miles per hour Sunday, April
24.
According to a dispatch report, Palmer Police Officer Chris Mendez was finishing
a traffic stop when a white Mazda came speeding northbound on I-45.
When he reached Ferris, the suspect attempted to run over a Ferris Officer.
Dallas County was setting up to deploy spikes at the 270 MM just north of Belt
Line Road when the suspect hit an 18-wheeler and wrecked out.
The vehicle did not show to be stolen and no warrants were found. When the
suspect was asked why he was running; he replied he “wanted to take a ride.”
