The Ellis County Press: Annual 'Brick Festival' this weekend Annual 'Brick Festival' this weekend ================================================================================ Editor on 04/28/2011 12:50:00 FERRIS - Excitement is in the air all around town as last minute meetings and planning are going on for the annual Ferris Brick Festival from the Ferris Downtown Association this Friday and Saturday, April 29-30. Known as “the city that bricked the world,” Ferris thrived during the early post-war years. Four brick plants operated during the 1950s and was known locally as the “Brick Capital of the Nation.” In honor of the legacy of bricks, the city hosts their annual “Brick Festival” in April. This year, festivities kick off Friday at 6:30 p.m. with a pet show and begin again at 7 a.m. on Saturday, April 30 with registration for the 5K run/walk. Area craftsman, food vendors, a car show and activities for children will be available all day Saturday ending with a street dance at the downtown pavilion with the Mid Town Playboys from 7-10 p.m. Ferris Brick Festival is located all throughout downtown Ferris on Main Street.
