"Old Fort Dallas," an 1800s themed western town, lost six buildings including the General Store during the blaze. According to reports, the fire started around 2:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 8. The park has been closed for more than 10 years but was often used as sets for movies and television shows. According to sources, NBC’s "Chase" was slated to film there later this week. The old-west theme park was used as a treat to local school kids graduating from Junior High in Ferris several years ago. Wilmer Fire Chief Marcus Smith said firefighters stopped the fire from spreading to additional structures in the 40 building complex despite lack of water service in the area. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
