At About 10:23 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 3, Fani Villareal-Velasquez, 30, was driving
her minivan Westbound on 5th Street when she experienced a brake failure and
consequently lost control of her vehicle. The van struck the railroad crossing
signal post located near the intersection of 5th Street and Central Ave. Union
Pacific Railroad had the post replaced by 5 p.m. the same day. No injuries
occurred.
