I believe in live and let live but when I got a letter in the mail in February 2007 that the City of Midlothian wanted to take my home into the city and force me to abide by all the crazy city ordnances, I was fit to be tied.

After a couple of weeks I cooled down, I went to city hall and asked to speak to someone about their forced annexation plan.

I was told "IF YOU DON"T LIKE IT MOVE" then was asked to leave.

I felt we were then and still being treated like second class citizens.

As Americans we had the freedom to choose where we live.

I for one was looking for a slower pace, less government involvement, the freedom to do as I please on my own property and because of my income lower taxes.

I wanted my kids to hear crickets at night instead of car horns, sirens and gunshots.

I wanted my son and daughter to be able to go outside at night and see the stars and not the glare of city lights.

Build a bonfire in the back yard, shoot skeet to prepare for dove season, and celebrate our nation’s independence on my own property.

I was willing to give up street lights, concrete streets, curbs, city water, sewer, DSL, natural gas, animal control, lower electric rates, better police, EMT and fire protection, trash pick-up, the convenience of 24-hr shopping, restaurants, knowing what my neighbor is doing every minute of the day because our homes were 10 feet apart.

We were told we should have known we would be annexed some day.

I never lived in a town that forcibly annexed people before, there were no signs on the side of the road; there wasn’t a disclaimer in my deed telling me of the intent of the city to do such a thing as this with out our permission.

We do live in a modern civilize America, don’t we?

If you don’t know the annexation plan of this administration it is to have the school district line also be the city limits line, unless already a part of another town.

I started going to city council meetings, board meetings, and even county commissioners meetings.

In the two and a half years of going to these meetings and talking to business and many members of the community, I got to say (other than in the movies) I have never seen and heard (in the free world) such an unjust way private citizens and business were being bullied (as in the city of Midlothian) to fall in line with the current administration.

I believe every council agenda is written to give as little information about the true agenda as possible so as not to generate public awareness.

The presentations are full of half truths and misleading some of the members of the council and the public.

They are being lied to by staff.

There is extortion, bribes, and blackmail part of the daily routine around city hall.

The businesses and individuals that are being attacked by the government know not to speak out or their life will become a li

ving hell. Some find themselves moving out of the county and even the state to escape harassment and personal attacks.

Even with property values going down your property value could more than double over night, because of you speaking out.

Don’t believe me. Take a few hours out of your busy lives each month to attend these meetings, see for yourself the real "BOSS HOG" who has all the makings of a real Chicago politician and be prepared for a snow job in July and bring some high top boots, you will need them.
