Simply Speaking: A nation fixated on stars

Rejuvenation of the courthouse square had to be one of the items on Tea Partiers’ minds, though of lesser concern than doing something about the US, Texas, Ellis County, Waxahachie, Ennis, Midlothian, Red Oak and Forreston crumbling and falling apart while we watch just one more football game or dancing with a star contest on the 54 inch, flat screen, high definition boob tube.

Well, our supposed date with the Rogers Hotel, located on the northeast corner of the courthouse square, for holding Third Saturday Tea Parties fell apart, leaving the local branch of that vital national movement scrambling for another suitable site for reveling in informing each other of yet another crisis in Washington…or Texas…or right here in River City, and coming up with battle plans for getting our country back.

We are a nation fixated on stars, you know, and not the celestial kind.

When John Wayne, James Stewart, Humphrey Bogart, etc., went on to their rendezvous with Destiny, the pickin’s got pretty slim for male stars.

I guess my current most-favorite is Mater, of “Cars” fame, though dancing with him might require two out-of-line front wrecker tires.

Maybe I would qualify, at that.

Anyway, back to Tea Party business. We did acquire a good site for our third- Saturday, Jan. 21 meeting.

It will be held at the Comfort Suites, 131 RVG Plaza, up past the new Dairy Queen, as you drive west on 287 Bypass Service Road in Waxahachie.

Also, kind of behind Home Depot and Best Buy.

And, oh, regular meeting-time hours; 6 – 8 p.m. CST or CSDLST, or whatever.

So, instead of rejuvenating Courthouse Square on Saturday evenings this month (if any rejuvenating is to be done), I guess the Ellis County Tea Party will be doing it up on the Northern, Walmart end of Waxahachie.

We’ll save the Courthouse Square revitalization for another day, if we are successful in helping to save the USA, Texas, Ellis County and Waxahachie at this current time.

The top agenda item from now through the Primary Election will be introductions to local, state, and maybe national candidates.

We may shake their hands, pat them on the back, ask tough questions, filter their answers (if need be), and be deciding where we might cast our votes.

Getting to REALLY know candidates who will grace our ballot, before the election, is vitally important, for we may need to hold their feet to the fire after the election, if they attain office.

The local Tea Party will be doing other things too…like conducting a little training on the how, when, and where; which, what kind of, and how many of a precinct convention, along with your presence and participation in same.

There are resolutions to be penned, in triplicate, you know, determinations as to whether you will be a delegate to the county convention a couple of weeks later and, maybe, just maybe, a delegate or alternate delegate to the state convention in Fort Worth in June and the national convention the week of Aug. 27 in Tampa, Fla.

The Democrats do the same thing in 2012 but, if you hold Tea Party beliefs, you might not be well-received as a delegate with resolutions in hand in triplicate.

Maybe there is a plan in this somewhere for some future dates…if we can help save the planet in the meantime.

May Yahweh God bless through Yeshua, Jesus, King of the universe.
