Jon’s VU! Election, who me?

I went to vote last time and being old it took a while to get out of the car, while dreading standing in line, a nice young lady came to the car and ask if I would like to vote from my car "sure, I said.

She took my name and brought me a ballot with my name and all the candidates. I noticed, while waiting for the family, that several other people were going to cars where the old folks were in cars marked with handicap stickers, and giving the same service.

I write this because I wonder if this service is available all over or just where I vote. I think a lot more of the old folks would vote if they knew they would not have to stand in line.

If this kindly service is not available at all voting places, it should be. Because a person is handicapped is no reason not to vote.

I hear politicians are always concerned about the middle class in our society. Rarely does any of them worry about the elderly who are members of all classes.

Some started well off, but lost all or most of their savings, and as old folks don’t have time to recover their savings.

These folks drop from doing great to poor in a short time. These people must then depend on social security and what little savings they have left.

The thing is, they have one thing left to get back some of their dignity; they have time to study who is running for office.

Some of these multi-class old folks will unexpectedly give a surprisingly good account of themselves.

I listen to the pollsters, touting one politician or another, without taking all the disgruntled old folks, the forgotten class into effect, the forgotten, like the old "silent majority," may just fool the pundits this time around!

Well, little bird, I think I will sit up late, make a big pot of coffee, and have an enjoyable family night. My family, at this house is all retired, poor and bored with reruns on TV. I think this will be an exciting election night. I just hope it doesn’t turn into HALLOWEEN!

What do you think? Will this country change it’s ways?

Will we continue down this way of self destruction? Lord, I sure hope not!!

Remember some day soon who you vote for may vote to take what little money you have left and soon even take away your vote!

This is not a popular vu, but it’s JON’S VU!!
