“Then Peter said, ‘Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give to you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!’ And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.” – Acts 3: 6, 7
The power of God had fallen and the new fledgling church of the Lord Jesus Christ was beginning to fulfill their destiny by going about doing good and healing all oppressed by the devil. Peter who had walked with Jesus had learned the ministry from Him and was now leading the church to do likewise, by healing a lame man.
This is what we as believers are called to do, but instead the tradition of men has led most into a religious cage where doing anything on your own is forbidden! I am so grieved by what the modern-day church has become with no power and no passion, they languish in complacency oohing and ahhing over some pre-madonna preacher spouting out prideful messages of peace and safety! Jesus said, “Go!” but we have chosen to stay and be good, moral, upstanding, church members, after all, once a week is plenty and the football season is here and the game starts at 1:00.
That’s the problem, most church members are either lost, backslidden or fallen away from the faith and most of today’s leadership doesn’t care because they are so busy making a name for themselves and promoting “THEIR” church. Say it ain’t so, but if you have a remnant of God’s Spirit you know it is and you too are grieved. Like it or not, there is a “Great Commission” but instead we have made it the Great Omission by not obeying the Lord’s command to “Go!”
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation (sozo) for everyone who believes.” – Romans 1: 1
