HUTCHINS – The City of Hutchins recently named its Interim City Manager Trudy Lewis to take the permanent seat after she stepped into the role of Interim when newly elected District 107 State Representative Carl Sherman exited the position earlier this year.

This is the second time Lewis took the role of Interim City Manager while working under Sherman.

The first time she moved into the interim position was last year in the City of Ferris.

Lewis’ role in Hutchins prior to her Interim City Manager position was Budget and HR Director.

The City of Hutchins had been searching for a city manager until recently while Lewis filled the open position.

Lewis is no stranger to the role of city manager since she served in that position in the City of Glenn Heights for two years from 2013 to 2015.

In Ferris she was the Budget/HR Director for one year before taking on the interim role there.

Prior to her role in Ferris Lewis was the District Director for Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson in the 30th District of Texas.

Lewis has over a decade of municipal experience and her previous professional experience also includes stints with the City of Arlington as Project Coordinator and Administrative Services Manager and the City of Irving as Budget Analyst and Housing Coordinator. She received awards from the City of Arlington for excellence in 2009, 2010, and 2011.

Lewis holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Spelman College in Atlanta, GA, a Master of Public Affairs Degree, with a concentration in Public Management, and a Certificate of Non-profit Management from the University of Texas at Dallas.

She participated in the 2013 Class of Leadership Arlington and the 2014 Class of Leadership Southwest and she served on the Best Southwest Partnership Visioning and Legislative Committees.

She was also on the 2014-15 Leadership Southwest Board.
