If you want a car to catapult you from good to great while creating a built-in sexy factor then the 2018 Lexus LC500h has to be at the top of your wish list.
As I drove the car around town I actually got honks from other drives next to me at red lights and even on the highway. Once, a man on a Harley next to me on the highway even turned around to give me thumbs up.
The competition in this class includes the BMW i8 Coupe, the Acura NSX Coupe or the Porsche Panamera Sedan.
The real stand out for this luxury coupe however, is the fact that unlike most sexy sport coupes, this one offers good gas mileage with a nod to Mother earth. That coupled with a pleasing design, excellent performance and luxury times 10 and you have the perfect package.
The Lexus LC 500h is new in the Lexus family in 2018. It seats two comfortable with a faux back-seat that should only be used in an emergency for extra passengers.
A hybrid sports car you get the use of a V6 engine and an electric motor. Only available in one trim you can add on some option packages to make this Lexus even more appealing.
The standard features include 20-inch wheels, LED exterior lights, heated and auto-dimming mirrors, keyless entry and ignition, ambient interior lighting, an information screen for the driver, a power-adjustable tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, adaptive cruise control, eight-way power front seats, adjustable driving modes, a 10.3-inch central display, navigation system, and 12 speakers. There are also two USB ports and HD and satellite radio.
The optional packages include a Convenience package with front and rear parking sensors and blind-spot monitoring, an All Weather package with a heated steering wheel and windshield de-icer or there is the Touring package with upgraded leather upholstery and audio system. The Sport package is the Convenience package with sportier front seats and the Performance package is the Sport package with a carbon-fiber roof and rear spoiler added as well as variable-ratio steering and a suede headliner.
The stand-alone luxuries you can add to this Lexus include 21-inch wheels, Torsen limited-slip differential and 13 Mark Levinson speakers instead of the standard 12.
Under the hood the 2018 Lexus LC500h has the 3.5-liter V6 engine with an electric motor cranking out 354 horsepower. There are two transmissions including the continuously variable automatic and a four-speed automatic in rear-wheel drive. There are also the steering wheel-mounted shift paddles that can be used for manual action.
The safety features on the 2018 Lexus LC500h include a rearview camera, pre-collision warning system with automatic braking, lane departure warning, anti-lock brakes, daytime running lights, side impact bars, head protection and a variety of airbags from front impact to driver side impact, passenger side impact, overhead, knee and rear side airbags
Inside the 2018 Lexus LC500h the ride is pure unadulterated comfort. The seats feel good, outside noise does not exist and count the AC vents as there are many giving you a feeling of contentment no matter where you are sitting. The seats are also air conditioned and heated in the front.
As for the knobs and dials that’s covered thoroughly and easy to use. The only real problem is the use of the Lexus Remote Touch infotainment. However, on the upside, one notable standout that sets this Lexus apart from the standard sports car is how easy it is to see outside the windows all around.
High marks too for the excessive use of leather and suede just about everywhere in the interior for the ultimate lavish vibe.
As for driving the 2018 Lexus LC 500h you get high performance all the time behind the wheel. The vehicle handles above normal with excellent steering and the suspension is a pleaser as well. You definitely know you own the road when driving this romping little luxury/sports/hybrid machine. For the sport’s car driver who wants a luxury component front and center the 2018 Lexus LC500h has got you covered and the best news is the gas mileage, which is 26 miles per gallon in the city and 35 miles per gallon on the highway.
