“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.” – Ephesians 4:11,12
Imagine joining the Marine Corps to ultimately fight and defeat your enemy and they tell you they are no longer offering training and they have no more equipment, you are on your own and your plane leaves in an hour! I can tell you from experience that when I joined the most formidable fighting force in the world I received the best training and had access to the latest equipment.
When I joined the church thirty seven years ago they offered me no training and they knew nothing about being equipped, only attending, so I had to learn by trial and error and there were many errors! Since the church of Jesus Christ for the most part is built with man-made, man-centered tradition it is geared for spectators only, and not for the work of service as it was intended. The five-fold ministry giftings are given to men who would equip God’s people to do the work of ministry and to fight and to defeat the enemies of God!
God has given us everything that pertains to life and godliness, the gifts of His Spirit, the sword of His word and the armor that protects us from the schemes of the devil! If you are not equipped, you are in danger of being destroyed, either by the powers of darkness or by rotting away in a pew. I suggest that you pay close attention to these teachings and to others by men who have been there and done that and not those who just talk about something they have never experienced.
“Till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect (complete) man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the Head-Christ.” – Ephesians 4:13-15
