North Ellis County Outreach is hosting an awesome class in Ferris: Cooking on a Budget. It will be held on Saturday, September 16, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., site to be determined. Attendees must RSVP as soon as possible (no rsvp, no food!) call 972-617-7261 to save your seat for this class.

The Ferris Public Library is looking to fill a part-time position. If you, or someone you know, would be interested in working 12 to 16 hours weekly come by the library and fill out an application or go online to the City’s website at https://ferristexas.gov to print off an application. Bi-lingual a plus.

The library’s annual book sale will continue for one more week. All items in this sale have been generously donated throughout the year. We are currently offering our lowest price, with all items only $1.00 each.

Pioneer Day, sponsored by the Ferris Lions Club, will be on Saturday, October 7, this year. You can call the library at 972-544-3696 or my cell 361-739-0003 to reserve a booth for only $35.00.

New Books: “Love Story” by Karen Kingsbury, “Cocoa Beach” by Beatriz Williams, “The Farmers’ Market Mishap” by Wanda Brunstetter and Jean Brunstetter, “Seven Stones to Stand or Fall” by Diana Gabaldon, “Murder Games” by James Patterson, “Backyard Bugs: An Identification Guide to Common Insects, Spiders and More” (Dewey 595) by Jaret C. Daniels, and “The Jersey Brothers: A Saga of War and Family” (Dewey 940) by Sally Mott Freeman.

Fun Holiday: “Read A Book Day” is September 6. One of the library’s favorite fun holidays! Take time out of your busy life, and relax with a good book. Reading is a great lifetime hobby. It offers positive attributes, it’s therapeutic, educational, and entertaining. Read with young children and the elderly, it is a wonderful bonding opportunity and creates lasting memories.
