Ennis clinches district playoff spot with 27-14 win over Nacogdoches


ENNIS – In District 17-5A action, the Ennis Lions defeated the Nacogdoches Dragons by the score of 27-14.

For Ennis, they were led by running back Tycen Thompson who rushed for 207 yards on 18 carries and two touchdowns. Ennis also had rushing touchdowns from Kade Graff and James Harris.

For Nacogdoches, Phillip Jones had 150 yards on 29 carries and one score. Noah Hildebrand threw for 152 yards, including a 47-yard touchdown pass to Kobe Poole.

Ennis, (6-3, 3-1 District 17-5A), has clinched a playoff birth and will be looking to clinch a share of the district title in the last game of the regular season when they travel to Corsicana next Friday night.

Meanwhile Nacogdoches, (4-5, 1-3 District 17-5A), will be attempting to clinch a playoff birth when they finish district play at home versus Jacksonville.
